Elfin Gardens partnership was formed in the summer of 2001 after its founders Janos and Shay, both of whom understand the Gaia hypothesis, discovered that they shared a passion for making lovely gardens.

In October 2006, after reading a Stern report, the joy of creating and maintaining micro ecosystems / green havens became tarnished. So we decided to research carbon pollution.

In April 2007 we registered with the UK government as carbon traders / carbon offset providers in the European carbon trading scheme (EU ETS). However after a little bit more research we chose not to trade with a market that had a pre-known over supply of units with a relative short term shelf life. That trading period has now ended. During this time, progress on reducing global emissions was not achieved.

In February 2008 we displayed a sample site (please see archive) and in between feeding the robins (which's involves regular forking over of soil or compost heaps) and waiting for the carbon market to mature, we continued to research carbon pollution.

Future plans are for carbon account card and carbon pension.
